Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but this is the biggest bunch of hogwash on the planet lol

BMW’s current Design Director Adrian van Hooydonk was the right hand man of the last Design Director, Chris Bangle.

There’s been no one in between them. Adrian is Chris’s successor. So if you want to credit someone else for the F87 you’d have to go back to 2009 and credit Chris.

Has BMW bled designers and managers in that time? Yes. Of course they have. All companies do. But all designs (yes, even the F87 and G8X) have been under the watchful eye of Adrian. The same guy who gave us the Bangle Butt.

The myth of the single design genius is just that, a myth. No one individual person or group of people are going to sink or make BMW. Design direction is systemic. There’s a million pieces and variables. Adrian is there to guide his folk through that. I’d bet a billion dollars that at least 1 of the designers (there were probably dozens of variations) who riffed on/proposed massive kidneys is a Sr. and has been at BMW for more than 10 years.

Lastly, everyone freaked out about the M2Cs joined grill. Then you accepted it. BMW was watching. You gave them the inch and they took a foot. Long live gigantic kidneys.
