I've lived in Canada 15 years now, coming from a fully metric country, I would say they are "metric-light". Other than the speed limits on the roads, pretty much everyone talks in pounds, feet, inches, etc.

I'll bet $20 if I walk to person on the street and ask them how far 2 meters is, they would not have a sweet clue. If I ask them how far 6'6" is, most would get pretty close.

And let's not even get into the whole weight thing haha
