Remove it and the car is officially not legal to be driven, because it does not comply to the emission rules in force in Europe right now.

Thanks for the reply, so these new emissions regs are something that will be checked on cars at future annual tests then?
Which means any option that cuts out the OPF is going to be a problem once the car is 3/4 years old and due an MOT.
