Sure.

Tires have no real standardization between themselves, or other tires. Knowing that the 245/255 is millimeters, you'd think that the 255 would be 10mm bigger...and it would be, if there were a standardization. But there isn't.

And beyond that, remember that the second number, the 35, is a percentage, and as the sizes go up, the shoulder can easily get more round, causing the discrepancy as well.

The ONLY way to do fitment properly is to check tirerack for the exact specs for each tire.
