In my opinion, considering the m235i's whole package, I wouldn't say that power is its limiting factor, performance wise. With the factory claimed 322bhp it already easily breaks traction on lower gears, which makes it struggle to get a good launch on drag races as well as to accelerate out of slower corners. Not to mention, the springs and dampers are too soft, meaning that the body control is more focused on regular driving than actual spirited driving.

Considering that the M2 will be lighter, will have a better suspension (firmer and tighter) setup, wider tyres and a proper LSD, that alone would make it reasonably quicker than the m235i on both track and drag strip. Add in those 40hp and the performance difference will be substantial.
