I don’t know if it is more prevalent in Europe. But if it is, I’d argue it’s because of the ease of moving it to a foreign market. They aren’t resold locally, they are parked up for a few days to see if there is a tracker. And then if not, they come and collect and go straight in a shipping container. Steal car in UK, ship it to Cyprus and give it a new identity and new paperwork. Lots of EU cars end up in the ‘Stans, Albania, Africa. Recent UK documentary found plenty of Range Rovers in Mozambique with British dealer stickers still on them!
Steal in the US and less places to ship to cheaply? And, honestly, more home owners with guns, so it’s riskier maybe?
