In a day and age where every company is mining for info for techs such as autopilot I can see why MNFRs are not willing to give up those types of data for free or even at a cost.
If we should blame anyone it's Google for this lack of feature in BMWs.

Are you sure about this? I have an android auto deck (an aftermarket one) in my CR-V (which I installed myself) and it definitely has nothing that is inputting any car telemetry into it (other than the sensors in the phone it is paired with, perhaps).
