Sticking a 'M' badge on the side of every BMW - I would agree that is diluting the brand.

Difference being that BMW has or had recently like 9 or 10 ///M models, some of which are diluted even further:
M1
M2
M3
M4
M5
M6
M8
X3M
X4M
X5M
X6M
Several have had Competition, CS, GTS, etc.
