I'm on the fence about transmissions. What do you mean the "throttle automatically engages as you release the clutch from a stop"? Is that something in BMW manuals? So, say I was stopped at a light, left foot on clutch, right foot on brake. If I let go of the clutch, and was slow getting my right foot on the throttle, the car would move forward and not stall?
Yes something like this. I believe they built-in the feature as a convenience thing for dealing with traffic. It would still stall if you let the clutch all the way out, but if you just take it to the bite point it will apply a degree of throttle. It feels unnatural however if you are used to performing the same function intuitively with your left leg and right as needed.

Don’t let it be a deal breaker. It’s fine, just different. My F80 did the same thing. Overall the transmission is good and fits the nature of the car very well. The car isn’t ‘precise’ enough to order with an automatic, if that makes sense.
