I'm sure it's powder coating. SA said 'paint', but I was questioning that myself (asked him and he still used that term). It would be warrantied work at their install shop on site at the dealer. They do good work, and can match it to that color as well. Yeah I wish it were standard option. When I selected 'black' for the 788s, I thought this is what I would be getting or close to it.
