- Call me crazy but the car undoubtedly pulls harder. I have installed a CAI on atleast half a dozen vehicles in my lifetime and never felt a performance gain before. With this intake the car feels like it runs stronger under WOT. (I am currently stock although I have a pile of FBO parts and a PS2 turbo going in any day now)
Cons:
- Aluminum is THIN, as so, I decided to install thermal gold tape.
- Fitment leaves something to be desired, although it looks pretty good installed. The port for the MAF is very tight and it is not seating as flush as id like. I will make some adjustments to try to correct this. My biggest gripe is the flared end of the intake that mates to the OEM plastic plumbing is smaller than OE. Because of this, it requires you to tighten the worm clamp down excessively. It holds securely but I'm not a fan of the fitment here.
- Last and most important, throws a CEL. Have not coded it yet but the car runs fine with the light on. I will update this if it goes away, although I doubt it will based on past experience.
- Idle is rough upon start up, and throttle response is abrupt in sport mode at 2k rpm when driving civil in a higher gear.
I am happy to confirm this CAI will fit over the metal lines as an above user had concerns over, and I did not have to modify anything to get this to fit. It was very easy to install and literally took 5 minutes.
I will sell this for a steal if another member wants to try it, as I don't plan on running JB4 to code this CEL out. Shoot me a dm if interested (San Diego, CA)

Hey, I think your CEL might be due to the MAF sensor not being seated 100%. When I installed BMS's intake on my previous F80, it threw a CEL at first but it was because I didn't have the MAF sensor seated 100% and un-metered air was getting in past the o-ring. It made idle rough, too. I also remember the MAF port being very tight on that intake, too.
Once I adjusted it and seated it fully, the CEL went away for good. I'd suggest adding a drop of DW40 to the o-ring and re-install the sensor until it is completely seated flush.
However, I know some intakes can trigger a CEL on the M2 just by the shape of the intake being different than stock so the above might not be the fix but it's worth a try.
