I've driven the 991.2 and liked it but wasn't blown away. Looking to find and drive the M2 in the near future. For what it's worth, I will likely end up putting a tune, intake, downpipe on whichever car I get. Seems like both cars are pretty stout when it comes to mods.
Have others cross-shopped these two? Any thoughts and opinions?

Glad to see someone actually drive a 911 and form their own opinion. I've driven many now and think they're good cars but vastly overrated as street cars.
If you need a backseat, get an M2. Simple as that IMO. If you have a kid; even more towards the M2.
