You may be right..on the 5w40..for here in Texas...and I do check for minimum oil temps (~165* F) on the BM3 dashboard....before putting the hammer down on track.
Is the BMW LL-01 designation not important ? I saw someone here using M1 0w 40 Euro Car formulation...which I would consider using...but that’s not LL-01.
