The extra ~30mm certainly do help but the rubber itself is a huge step up. Going from Contis to Michelin's best all-around street tire is night and day. I can actually hook up in the wet now. The only time the TC light flashes (dry road conditions) is when cornering on uneven pavement (blame that on suspension and damping) and WOT from a standstill (plus a chirp from 1st to 2nd). Power gets down in all other situations.

I haven't noticed a change in ride quality. It's a lower profile tire but better rubber compound so it's a wash in the comfort department.
