I just did this last night on a Mac with a Windows guest running VMWare Fusion. You need to do a couple of things. You need an Ethernet dongle connected to your Mac to plug the ENET Cable into.
1. Inside your Mac System Preferences —> Network —> Advanced , you reorder the network interfaces so your Wi-Fi (Internet) connection is first, and your Ethernet dongle is second
2.Inside VMWare you will need to add an additional network interface and map that to the Ethernet dongle and map your internet facing interface to the Wi-Fi interface on your Mac.

Once you have the ENET cable connected to your OBD port and can see both interfaces connected in VMWare, you can run the Feature Installer software.
