I'm a convert. Originally I thought the lack of armrest would be the single biggest dislike for me. Not a problem. Like JimJamz I'm making good use of the door armrest on longer drives. Using the other arm for primary wheel grip where one-hand is appropriate.
I will say resting arm on center console just doesn't work well for me. It's too low and the iDrive knob is in the way. Just keeping the arm closer to body and hand on the wheel. A bit of a reversal from my E39, where I use the door armrest less and the center armrest all the time.
