This seems to be the defacto argument. Yet, nowhere does it indicate that quality will be decreased if production is moved to Mexico.

Companies moving manufacturing offshore follows the same principles as their home country. The only thing a company is taking advantage of is labor arbitrage. Quality does not necessary suffer. In fact, when new manufacturing plants are built from the ground up, it typically increases in quality than a manufacturing plant that was designed years ago.

I know it's still hard for some people to differentiate the country of origin and quality, but it's not founded in facts.
Agree 100% percent. Given modern manufacturing standards, yield targets, consistency in supply chain and EF rates, coupled with the increased reliance on machinery vs artisan skill in automotive manufacturing any perceived "quality" difference based on the country of assembly is purely based on internal bias and not facts. There is no evidence that there is any degradation in quality from one plant to the next in the automotive context for the same types of vehicles from the same OEM based purely on the nationality or location of the workforce. If the same company is spinning up factories around the world with the same logistical, assembly, and processes standards and procedures, any actual quality difference would be if marginal if not null.

Just because an OEM wants to save shipping costs and pay a worker the market rate for their geography that may be less than another factory, doesn't then automatically mean that Jose cannot follow directions and procedures as good as Claus.
