The gain isn't from smoothing, but from increased size. The stock inlet pipe necks down right before the turbo, acting like a restrictor plate. Pure did some testing and at high revs, high output it was good for ~40hp up top with stage 2 turbo. Stock would probably never be able to notice a difference.
