Antigravity LiFePO4 Lithium Battery installation

We've been long-term testing and collecting datalogs of this battery type since last year on a daily driver/weekend warrior M4 with no absolutely no voltage issues or starting.

While these steps are for M3/M4, same steps apply for 2-Series/M2:

Comparison of OEM battery and Antigravity

OEM battery weight @ 58lbs

Antigravity weight @ 18.6lbs

The Antigravity batteries come ready to install, no additional parts are needed. In this install, we used the H6-40-RS (60Ah) as it closely matches the OEM battery specs while shedding 11.5 lbs of weight over the stock battery. Its size allows the use of the factory battery hold down cleat without the use of battery adapters or trays. We also include a replacement negative cable with integrated IBS sensor, which keeps monitoring happy and in charging in check.

Only tools needed is a 10mm socket.

Open trunk, battery is located behind access cover of passenger taillight

OEM battery location

Remove negative cable first

Remove (2) 10mm bolts holding in holddown bracket

Unplug IBS sensor from battery cable

Remove 10mm bolt holding battery cleat

Battery cleat removed, set aside

Remove battery vent tube

Remove battery from trunk

Install Antigravity battery and secure down with battery cleat

Reinstall positive terminal

Reinstall negative terminal

Reconnect IBS sensor plug

Reinstall battery holddown bracket

Reinstall battery
