Upstate NY had some rough roads too. Some really fun back roads though, but scary narrow. How about adding a used '15-'17 Miata with under 10k miles, and adding $6k in suspension, big brakes, wheels/tires? All in for under $25k. For the time I spent around Davenport and up around omeggang brewery it would be perfect.
