I don't think you can make the brace "better" than the M235i brace unless you can keep the horizontal bar that triangulates the brace.

No, it looks just like a normal race core intercooler no diverter valves welded to the end tanks or anything like that.
Yes that is the goal, I will try to retain the horizontal section, the bottom angled sections will have to go. I think it is possible.
