I'm 6'4' - and have no problem at all with headroom in our 2016 M235i (with sunroof). But I am mostly legs - I've seen others in this forum who have had a very different experience. You should try sitting in an M240i at a local dealer to understand the situation for yourself.
That said - I did NOT order the sunroof in my MY2018 M2 - but not because of concern about headroom. I just rarely ever use them - and I absolutely never miss it in my Z4 M Coupe.
