My 2 cents:
(1.) Cars can be a hobby but not brands
(2.) Brands can be a lifestyle, but connecting your identity to a brand is indicative of 1 or more personality disorders. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
(3.) I give the nod to anyone with a cool ride, regardless of brand (or vehicle type), and if anyone gives me the nod I always smile and nod back
(4.) I drive like a complete dick and will continue to do so since it's my hobby.
