I'm not most people.

BMW can try to rationalize it how ever they want and for those of us who do like Apple CarPlay and don't switch cars every time something new and shinny is announced it sucks.

In fact, I'm out twice for Apple CarPlay once on the M2 $300 and now M2C $80/year.

I couldn't "transfer" Apple CarPlay from the M2 b/c it's with the car not a subscription, but that's on me for switching cars.

What I'd really like to know is if the new M2 owner will have to pay $80/year or if they get the remainder for free.

Also what happens if my WiFi or some other piece of hardware dies out of warranty. Does that $80/year cover the repairs? If not then, I'm paying for a "subscription" that they cannot deliver. Either way, like other and I have said. It's BS and a complete money grab. You won't see anyone ponying up $80/year for a Google/Android subscription.
