I switched to a 255/275 set up on my 17M2 using PS4's and felt like the car handled better not to mention the tires filled the arches better. I have PSS installed on my 21M2C and and plan to switch to PS4 at the first opportunity. I felt more confident on the larger tires.

I'm betting it's because it's a larger car, but you'd really have to ask BMW that question.
And yes, the PS4S will give you better performance no question, it's a much newer design tire.
