My Canadian f87 does not have sensors in the wheels. It just uses the wheel hub speed sensor to determine if a tire is low. I have 3 sets of rims and interchange them, no sensors in any of them. You can code it on but you would have to install the sensors in each rim.

Which year? I believe they installed TPMS for 2020 models.
OP I'll be removing my summers off the OEM wheels in a month after the car comes in but it's a 2019 model. Will let you know here either way.
