Given that you have a Land Cruiser as another car I'd say M2, no concerns over it being a 2017. I have a 2016 M2 and 2017 VW GTI, love both but totally different cars. If it were your only car frankly the GTI is a better all around car. But for a fun car, M2.
One note is that my GTI is heavily modified (turbo swap, Brembo, coilovers, etc) so it gives me the exact experience I'm looking for, but also took years to dial it in, which is fun to me.
Judging by the fact you're going for a certified car I'm guessing you're looking to keep stock. If you keep both stock M2 will be leaps and bounds better. Faster, better brakes/suspension, sounds better and more engaging.
