I think if you find the right dealer it's possible to get an extra discount on a ED.
I bought my old M235i before the M2 came out. It was still a hot car at that time. I was able to get the then 7% (now 5%) ED discount plus an extra 6.5% for a total 13.5% off of MSRP. It can happen and I wouldn't be surprised if the the buying climate is headed into discount land.
