There could be a multitude of reasons to switch brakes.

Pad choices, ease of pad changes, wanting to run 18" wheels instead of 19"+ wheels, better cooling, thicker discs, more robust calipers, lower unsprung and rotating mass etc.

The OEM calipers are good but not in the same league as proper racing calipers. Pretty sure OEM are cast and most racing ones are forged.

Ducts may lead to the brakes or to the intakes, the M2C has 2 brake ducts either side of the front water rads already
