SCOTT26 (the resident forum insider) has said on multiple occasions that the M2 will get weight saving components, much like the M3/4. Now, based on the actual weights of the M3/4, that might be more //Marketing than reality, but people aren't pulling that one out of a hat. BMW is actually touting the reduced weight thing as a core part of their design philosophy for M-cars now.

"The horsepower wars are over!"

"Lightness is where it's at!"

That's the message we're getting from M GmbH.
