I feel like it's less to do with the engines themselves and more to do with the mapping.

BMW could have made the M2 Comp an M2 on steroids and had it go like a rocket from 1500rpm but they wanted to make it a more track-focused car that's controllable. What good is a track car if you can't control it?

Whereas the M240i, OG M2 etc. are made for the street, and they want to blow you away from the moment you press the pedal (which they do)

The M2 comp is fast as hell but it's not nearly as fun as the OG up to like 70/80mph. However from what I have read once you tune then the Comp is another level. Obviously, not everyone wants to tune though and I agree, I wish they made it more aggressive low down.

In an ideal world, the Comp would pull like the N55/B58 low down (well even harder) and then progress through the revs like the S55 does.
