A heavy IC can soak up more heat, a smaller IC isn't going to cool down quicker.

I think the M2 (I have a M235i) has an additional brace in the bumper. ER sends on the modified part with their kit, which is a nice touch. And yes, I'm guessing that's because it's 11" tall.
