Xice3's are awesome tires and an excellent compromise. You can beat on them and they don't wear out. Blizzaks are softer yes but they wear. So do the Hakka's.

The R2's are better in the slush by quite a bit and a little bit better on ice. They are softer and have more void area. softer is better on ice but more void on ice is worse. Xice are great on ice but downside is slush if being picky. But they wear the best and pricing is quite good etc. and more readily available.

Also people talk about narrower is better. Well on ice wider is better so don't get too caught up in getting the narrowest tires as with most things in life its a compromise no matter what you do and especially when it comes to choosing winter rubber for a rwd performance coupe.
