EDIT: Solved! let the car sit for a while and took it on a short drive. Re-coded GHAS to GTS spec. No errors and no codes.

Great that it is OK now - did you run the diff initialization sequence in ISTA? You won't need to now if you didn't (as it has sorted itself out), but it might have accelerated the clearing of the error.
