The logical next move from Competition would be a m2 CS in late 2019, from which you expect similar treatment to M3/4 CS.

CSL could follow in 2020 as MY2021, the last model year of F22/87. But that will affect the release of G80 M3, the core business for BMW M for the next 7-8 years. How do you expect BMW to position a CSL model? Slower than G80 which is a base M? Or faster than G80 which is supposed to be more upscale? BMW will not want to deal with that problem. So M2 CSL isnt happening in 2020.

It looks like the only way to make CSL happen is for BMW to skip M2 CS and jump right into CSL in 2019. But why would they do that? They would have a much less engineering and validiating process with CS and have a bigger production volume with it without having problem selling each single one they make. Why CSL then?

CSL can and will happen with G generation, no one from BMW M has the motivation to realize it with outgoing F.
I think MR was able to confirm in his interview with the M boss that there could be one more model for the F87 M2, but it won't be a CSL. Could be a CS though.
