Yup it is the fly wheel locking location, I have a slot on my 6mt for me to insert that tool and lock the crankshaft without dropping the transmission, if you do not have such a hole you might have to drop the transmission.
Also ISTA is a really helpful tool, you should look into getting that. If I have some time I will try to screen shot the instructions for you, but no promises because I am a bit preoccupied at the moment.
