AFAIK, CarPlay is not available for purchase through ConnectedDrive in either the U.S. or Canada yet -- and EU users have reported major problems with purchases not going through for CarPlay via the ConnectedDrive store.
The confusion regarding iDrive 5.0 and CarPlay in July-build M2s -- and the differences in policy that currently exist between Canadian and U.S. BMW dealers -- tells me that CarPlay may not be available for purchase in the U.S. for quite a while.

It wont be..
I picked up my 2017 M2 yesterday, with a built date of 7/21. I have asked the CA, the Performance Delivery specialist, they spoke with BMW Genius and I also opened a complaint for this since they are all saying that it won't be able to be retrofitted to the car.
