I believe, but don't have any hard evidence to prove this, that the F8x will benefit from a square setup in a true track setup. I will leave that one open until after I get some data.

Even on the street the square setup I use in winter on the F80 is superior as far as balance is concerned. It's so much easier to anticipate and recognize when the rear will let go etc.
Only issue is where traction is concerned from standstill. Hence I run 305s in summer.
