The car has been optimized for a non-square setup unlike the e36 and e46 that showed benefits by going to a square setup. 285mm rear and 265mm front were the largest tire we could fit without pulling, rolling, or cutting the fenders.
Could you get bigger tires under there? Perhaps. But we quickly ran into an equation with diminishing returns.
