OEM is plastic and so due to heat cycling from under the hood temps, it will harden/age and become more brittle.

Eventually, even on stock cars, this brittle plastic part can fail.

I chose to fit ER boost pipes (both sides of i/cooler) as they are more resilient/robust, have a smoother larger bore, come with assorted bungs (futureproofing should I feel the need to install WMI) and install is easy esp if done whilst fitting upgraded i/cooler.

I had ER pipes on my modded BMW's (e91 n54, F2x n55 & F87 n55) and fitting larger i/cooler can sometimes cause laggy part throttle. In my experience, installing ER pipes helped retain oem throttle response.
