IIRC the AP1 has a 9000rpm redline which was quickly replaced by the AP2 which has a lower 8300rpm redline. Personally I feel the AP2 has a more useable power band. Still visceral yet drive-able on the street.

Miata doesn't become the best selling sports car of all time without good reasons. While they are no revvers (actually they felt uncouth at high rpms), they are so fun even tooling along Main St. Yet they are more Miatas at the track than all the cars posted here on any given weekend. Now that says something about this diminutive Mazda.

As the world marches towards soulless digital vehicular appliances, I wish I have the money to buy all these great analog vehicles that ooze character.
