Starts at $54k with option to add CF roof, unlike the M3 standard with nav and cf roof...the M2 will come with nothing (other than the usual M bits). So basically a modded m235i.

Bmw is trying to gain entry level buyers but also have enough goodies for those diehard M fans. A lightly optioned M2 with nav and cf roof will run around $59k...add some blings like carbon brakes and we're in M3 territory
Arrival of M2 will put the M3 and M4 Coupe at three years since official introduction, and 2 and a half years since market introduction.
So the next phase of the M3 and M4 Coupe and whether a separate CRT , CSL or GTS would be on the verge of being introduced?

Leaving ample room for the M2 and the next stage of progress of the M3 and M4 to leave room for the next BMW M5.

Surprisingly they do think about this...
