You can clearly feel all the research, engeneering and product planning that went in the M3/4 platform as you can also feel the M2 got the leftover of that, carryover parts, simpler interior, less options etc.

All this is fine and reflects on the price spectrum. Its just so happens that the M2 is on the 2 series platform wich is smaller/shorter so it ends up being nimpler and more entertaining.

Since ppl buy M car for so many different reasons you also end up with cross-shoppers between models. If the M2 would be a 2-seater it would be way different..
