The best solution I have found is Quickjack, they are not cheap (1,000 at Costco) but if is a proper, portable lift that will lift your car at the proper lift points and give you about 20" of lift and is very safe. When you're done with it you simply lean them against the wall and they take up about as much space as a small ladder leaned against the wall. It is the best tool investment I have made. Works for a wide range of cars and is built well so it is potentially a 15-20 year tool. As a DIY guy it gives me access to more jobs, safer and quicker so it was a no brainer for me.
