Don't buy winter performance tires like PA4s. They are not dedicated snow tires.

For a Montreal winter get Michelin X-ice3s or Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2s. Both of those tires will be great in heavy snow. You need dedicated snow tires not subpar winter performance tires. I prefer the X-ice3 because their dry weather performance is waaaaay better than the Nokians. Nokians have the slight edge in snow and ice but not by much.

I've ran both on my 1M and have driven through 20 inch blizzards with no complaints.

If you've never owned a RWD car before make sure you get a dedicated snow tire.
