Surely even if you were going to stick with stock forever, a larger diameter would not be a negative? Perhaps to avoid the hard transition to the narrower aperture at the turbo itself?

No reason I can think of - nor would I change a lot of parts that don’t add power of break like boost pipes etc.
Get the Hybrid option or the Pure Unit.
