The M2 isn't a full-on sports car, but it's a hell of a lot closer than an M5 lol. I drove a couple laps in an M5C on track last year right after driving an M4 ZCP and the mass of the M5 is quite noticeable as is the numb feeling in comparison. The M2 feels even better than the M4. No one is arguing which is faster. If you don't understand feel then please just stick to your executive sedans. I'm sure your 4500lb AWD automatic transmission sedan is more of an M car than an M2, lol. How clueless can one be?
The M2/M3/M4 are the heaviest BMWs I would ever consider buying.

M2C is as pure as you can get these days. It's an amazing ride. Steering can still improve though.
