Loved how they drove and how "solid" they felt compared to US/Japanese offerings. Also, their I6 engines are some of the best in the industry, you can just wail on them and they still last a very long time all while being so smooth to redline. Lastly, I wanted a project car so my first BMW was in high school, a `91 318is that I swapped an E36 M3 S50 in.

Many many BMW's later (and some other brands), definitely not. I'm sad in some ways where the company has gone but if they keep at least 1 or 2 enthusiast cars around (M2) then I will continue to be a customer.
