It has been done once before when BMW shipped S54 engines to South Carolina for Z4M assembly. Actually, I guess it was done for all the X M SUVs too and the Z3M.
The car may well end up with B58, but I don't know if it makes much difference to ship an S58 vs a B58 on a boat.
