The EJ is literally a 20 year old engine with serious reliability issues, partially due to the factory tune in view of modern emission standards.
Subaru should have upgraded it a long, long time ago.
With things like the Golf R and RS out there, I'm not sure why anyone would buy an STI with that lump in it.
That being said, I wouldn't bet against the STI in resale value. Both WRXs and STIs have CRAZY resale value. I would think it would be hard for the M2 to match it...as I don't think this car becomes the 1M...but we'll see.
